Hi Everyone! It’s Andrea here, the museum Intern Program Coordinator.
Last Friday, the Roberson Museum and Science Center hosted their first ever Art and History Day, and the Bundy Arts and Victorian Museum was invited to participate. Our Booth was
very successful, with a steady stream of kids through the entire three hour event.
Ibrahim was our guest for the duration, and he spoke about African culture via the many art pieces that were on display at our booth. I learned so much from him, and it was great fun telling the kids what each mask, jewelry piece or sculpture meant and was used for.
One necklace we had was made from very heavy round beads, and everyone thought they were rocks of some kind, until it was explained that they were made of glass, melted down from beer bottles!
